| Students will explore a variety of world papermaking history and
techniques including; traditional western papermaking of breaking rags
and plant fiber in a hollander beater;
traditional Japanese papermaking, hand beating kozo and gampi fibers;
traditional Tibetan paper sheet formation;
non traditional, sculptural and dimensional paper formations;
calendering, burnishing and Japanese hole punch binding.
Class one- Intro to paper fibers and western sheet formation.
Class two- Intro to eastern fibers and eastern sheet processes.
Class three- large and dimensional paper technique.
Class four- calendering, burnishing and Japanese binding.
