The objective of 17th Century Book and Paper is to make paper and books utilizing 17th century historical techniques, fibers and materials. The class is comprised of three sessions.

During the first session students make paper utilizing traditional 17th century fibers and processes. Students will learn to make paper using a hollander beater from cotton & linen rag, raw flax, hemp and straw fibers. Students are encouraged to come with a watermark and will form 12x18 sheets.

During the second session students will use their handmade papers and leather to make a long stitch binding.

During the third session students will use their handmade papers and leather to make a limp vellum binding.
