Following the U.S. Public Health Service's endorsement of water fluoridation in 1950, ALCOA placed this ad in the journal of the American Water Works Association. The accompanying text of the ad states: "ALCOA Sodium Fluoride is particularly suitable for the fluoridation of water supplies... If your community is fluoridating its water supply –- or considering doing so -- let us show you how ALCOA Sodium Fluoride can do the job for you."
